High Pressure Gas Transport Business

JOT High Pressure Gas Transport Business

The High-Pressure Gas Transport Business not only transports Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) as well as hydrogen as a carbon-free green energy but also liquefied oxygen, liquefied nitrogen, and other industrial high-pressure gases.

LNG Transport Business

Top Share in Number and Transport Volume of LNG Tanker Trucks

This business is in charge of transporting private, commercial, and industrial Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) through its own fleet of over 300 LNG tanker trucks throughout Japan. We hold the top share in LNG transport, which makes up roughly 40% of the transport volume in Japan. JOT not only provides transport by tanker truck but also can propose intermodal transport services utilizing its expertise in railway car transport. We offer intermodal solutions suitable to the needs of each customer.

Business Expansion Throughout Japan

The LNG Transport Business has service sites throughout Japan to provide transport services that connect import entry points and domestic gas fields across the country to the satellite locations of our customers. Aware of our position as experts in the transport of LNG—a clean energy for which demand is only expected to increase—the entire JOT Group will continue working hard to supply LNG safely and reliably.

Comprehensive Safety and Education System to Ensure Safe and Reliable Transport

JOT provides safety education and training to increase the skill of our personnel through classroom, skill and practical training using the LNG Training Center in Hitachinaka, Ibaraki to provide safe and reliable transport on a daily basis. The education and training programs are repeatedly conducted according to the level and experience of every employee involved with LNG transport. This includes practical training on the structure and operational procedures of tanker trucks as well as the initial response in the event of an accident. We also perform thorough maintenance on vehicles and containers to round out our comprehensive safety system.

LNG Supply Scheme

We live up to the faith our customers place in us by combining tanker truck transport together with our composite integrated transport, which leverages the respective advantages of railroads and automobiles.

In recent years driven by efforts to realize a carbon-free society, the demand for LNG for use by both consumers and industry has increased rapidly due to its highly stable price and the relatively low levels of CO2 emissions it produces when burned, compared with oil or coal. After commencing with the transport of LNG via tanker trucks in 1984, JOT Group implemented the country's first tanker container rail transport system for the product in 2000. We provide intermodal transport utilizing our vast experience amassed over many years and the advantages of railroads and automobiles. In times of emergency such as those following a disaster, we meet the needs of our customers by offering multiple modes of transportation.

Initiatives for Safely Transport LNG

We carry out regular education and training worthy of LNG transportation experts for all personnel associated with the product, establishing a flawless safety system.

All people concerned with the transport of LNG receive individual, thorough safety education and training that allows them to always transport the products safely.

About the LNG Training Center

The JOT Group LNG Training Center is part of the Ibaraki Sales Office under the Kanto LNG Branch of ENEX, INC. The classroom and practical skill training that begins by offering a basic understanding of LNG before conducting regular safety education for all transport and officer staff involved in LNG operations, which establishes an all-around safety system.
The education and training are done according to the level and number of years of experience of each individual. By repeatedly providing this education and training, we strive to delivery safe transport on a daily basis.

Education Content

1. Classroom Training in the Lecture Hall
Trainees learn the basics of LNG, such as its chemical attributes, from text and videos materials in a classroom setting.
We also strive to raise the utmost awareness about the importance of reporting, communicating, and seeking advice in the event of any trouble to execute each task and transport as a whole safely.

2. Courses in the Practical Training Room
We provide comprehensive education using cross-sectional models of valves in the machine room to teach various things, such as practical operations as well as the initial response in the event of an emergency.
Trainees learn from real examples with their eyes and hands to put the skills they learn into practice.

Education in the Practical Training Room
LNG Flow Model and a Class on the Behavior of LNG During Loading and Unloading
Class Using a Cross-sectional Valve Model

3. Training Room
We provide education on the maintenance of vehicles and containers using cross-sectional models of an actual LNG tanker truck.
The training room is where trainees learn through a more hands-on approach of these skills as a next step after the practical training course.

Hydrogen and Other High-pressure Gases

Hydrogen Transport

Broader use of hydrogen will contribute to the realization of carbon neutrality by 2050.

The JOT Group has been involved in the trailer truck transport of compressed hydrogen and the operation of mobile hydrogen stations as a way to facilitate greater energy efficiency and the use of hydrogen as a green energy with zero CO2 emissions when burned.
As efforts continue to ramp up quickly toward a carbon-free society, JOT will aim to become the pioneer leading transport of new energies by capitalizing on its expertise backed by proven results in the transport of a variety of high-pressure gases.

Flow for Transporting Compressed Hydrogen via Trailer Trucks

In the Kanto, Chubu, and Kyushu regions, we handle the distribution of hydrogen to stationary hydrogen stations, which is contributing to widespread infrastructure offering broader access hydrogen.

Transportation and Sales Flow of Mobile Hydrogen Stations

In the Kanto region, we not only handle the distribution of hydrogen to mobile hydrogen stations but also engage in sales efforts targeting local customers, which is contributing to more widespread use of Fuel-Cell Vehicles (FCV).

Other High-Pressure Gas Transport

The JOT Group handles the transport of many different high-pressure gases besides LNG and hydrogen, such as Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), liquefied oxygen, liquefied nitrogen, and liquefied ammonia. These high-pressure gases support a variety of industries, whether iron and steel, automobiles, or even food and medicine.
